August 16/2017
The weeks are flying by. I can’t believe it is already the middle of August. I had a fantastic week last week with Jolee and the kids …. Hannah, Ava, Austin, and Chloee. We did crafts and played at the park and when it was cooler on Saturday we went to a movie , then each one of the kids took a turn staying at Papa and Mama’s trailer for a night. That gave us some one on one time with each one. It was los of fun. I really miss them all this week. 😘
My recovery from radiation is taking much longer than I expected, I just get one spot cleared up and another one pops up. Definatley not something that the Cross prepared me for. Yesterday was three weeks since I finished radiation and I got another bad spot show up. It is hard to wear many of my clothes, I am wearing baggy clothes so that nothing touches the skin that is very red and like a bad rash. I sailed through the 20 treatments like nothing. But the three weeks since have been a bit of a nightmare. Radiation sucks 😢
So there is about 20 guys staying at the same trailer park we are staying at. Of course these trailers are homes to all of us and the guys stay in them for months on end. With that comes some problems. So when the guys first got here they found a trailer guy who fixes problems with these mobile homes. He has done everything to help fix up these trailers new toilets , new air conditioners, leaking windows and roofs. But as each thing was fixed each guy was getting a little more frustrated with his prices. Some guys have paid 3, 4, 5, thousand dollars to get things fixed. Everyone complained but needed this stuff fixed. Of course he can charge what he wants because there is no one else to do this fixing. These prices would never be charged at a trailer place, where they do this stuff in their shops, but in these small towns these guys are sitting ducks and pay they do !!!! Then I needed him as our fan over the stove quit, and every time I cook the fire alarm goes off. Not a good thing.! he was working at my son Gordon’s place so I walked over and asked him if he could come and look at it. Of course he said yes. He came over right as I was cooking supper …of course.. He popped out the fan and said it was a little element and he could fix it the next day. Then he stayed and talked to us for about an hour about his kid, his life, the holiday in Hawaii he going on next week etc…finally off he went and we had supper. The next day he returned with the piece and told me it was 27.00 dollars and he was sorry about that, because it was such a small piece, I was well whatever it needs to be fixed. He stayed again for about an hour talking to me. I asked for the bill and he told me he would bring it the next day because he didn’t have time to make it up. The next day he meets me over at Mac’s trailer where I was doing crafts with the kids. He gives me a bill for $167.00 dollars. I was like “what” am I paying for the trip to Hawaii ? He laughed but I didn’t. He said he charged for one hour of time it took him maybe 5 minutes each time. Then talked to me for an hour each time. I paid him but I told him I was not happy about the price. Well the next day he was back and said I was right that he had thought about it and he felt it was to much. He gave me back my cheque. He asked me for 35.00 to cover the cost of the piece. I paid him that and this time I didn’t let him come inside to talk for an hour. I think this guys is really a counsellor and charges for all the visiting time. Pipeline life is expensive. 😡
I am down to only a few weeks before I go back to Mexico. My sister Cathy and her husband Des are both coming back with me this time. Cathy has been my side kick through so much of my journey and she has luckily for me agreed to come again with me to San Diego/Mexico. Des is coming to get some dental work done at our friendly little dentist there too. I am actually looking forward to going back to Tijuana because I can’t wait to see how my cancer markers are now. I have been following this hoxey diet now for 3 months. I sure hope it is making a difference. I really do feel better. Time will tell ! 👍🏻
I have now got a full head of hair and I am a brunette. With a dusting of gray throughout. I also have some curl I never had before too. Who knew having cancer could change your hair color and texture? Although as I talk to people now, many people tell me this can happen. So I am embracing the brunette color and I am really rocking it. Lol lol the new me….after cancer.
Today’s saying : Truth… is like surgery. It hurts but it heals…A Lie…is like a painkiller. It gives instant relief but has side effects forever.
